Launching a Gorgeous New Website!

I'm very excited to announce and show off my new website. Well, it's the same URL, but a whole new design! And it's really beautiful. I'm so very pleased. Lois Bradley, a New Mexico friend, graphic artist, and writer designed all the new banners for me. Swank Web Design did all the dirty behind-the-scenes work of incorporating the content and made it all look pretty. Many, many thank you's!!

Since I'm writing Middle-Grade with Scholastic and a Young Adult trilogy with Harpercollins I created two *sides* to my site. One easy click will take you from one to the other.

Yes, you can get the full 4 minute song, written and sung by Bet Fonua as an MP3 for your computer, I-Pod, MP3 player, Blackberry, etc! Wowza!

Launch of my Newly Designed Website!

So here it is . . . after much work and angst . . . MY NEW WEBSITE!!! I've been writing new bios, short and long, so don't forget to click at the end of the sidebar bio for more about me and growing up and writing. Plus there is a Q&A, which is something I've never done before. And my blog - in links to the last 5 posts - comes through on the sidebar, too! Hope you enjoy browsing around. 

You will see a Louisiana theme on the website (the flowers are azaleas in the top corners like these I took last year).



I've been wanting to rant for weeks about the Louisiana oil spill but I can hardly bring myself to think coherently the whole situation is so upsetting to me, let alone write/blog about it.

I hope to blog about my feelings and perspective in the next week or two before The Healing Spell launches in 20 days! YES, ONLY 20 DAYS AND I'M TRYING NOT TO FREAK OUT. But all will be well for me, I'm sure. NOT so for my dear, beautiful Louisiana and the people I love there. I've been heartsick, angry, and I rant every day to my family, but it's such a helpless feeling.

I just hope that places like this will not become obsolete.

Very Cool Agency Site Redo!

My agent is Tracey Adams and her husband Josh, also an agent extraordinaire, recently revamped their agency website.

Adams Literary Agency was the first agency to launch a website 5 years ago and the new and improved is fantastic!

I am very BLESSED and LUCKY to be with them. Tracey and Josh are so knowledgeable about the children's book industry and so much fun, too. Just last week, Tracey and I were emailing about a new blurb I got from the DEMI-GOD of Children's Literature of the past three decades (YES, HE READ THE HEALING SPELL AND IS BLURBING IT!!!) and she just picked up the phone to chat and squeal together in person. She said, "I've decided that phone calls are too infrequent these days, and it's important to connect voice-to-voice! " I so agree. Gave me a happy glow all day long.



In other news, check out this new book by fellow New Mexico Author Lauren Bjorkman, and part of the Class of 2009. Her debut novel is having it's birthday!!!! Congratulations, Lauren!!!!

Hodge Podge Tuesday - or Publicity Ideas 101

My new book, THE HEALING SPELL, isn't slated for publication until June 2010, but I'm going to be so busy finishing production work on it and then doing revisions and production work for my YA, SECRET RITES OF THE GODDESS, coming out Fall 2010, that I'm thinking way ahead on the publicity stuff. I'm also writing a brand new book tomorrow. Yep, you heard right. Although I'm not writing the ENTIRE book tomorrow, just a few pages a day until I finish - um, hopefully sometime in July!

So . . . . I started three months ago making lists about publicity ideas and contacting people because it will probably take me the next year to get everything in place with all the writing going on.

First, I hired www.swankwebstyle.com to design a new site for me. It's moving forward beautifully! Got my FAQ written last week and off as well as a bunch of other tidbits, like the Welcome Message, my short and long Bio, etc.

This morning I checked out: Blue Slip Media These gals sound like fun, have a TON of experience and have worked with some of my favorite authors.

Still searching for the right company to design POSTCARDS. I want something better than my last cards . . . Oh, and don't forget bookmarks and business cards. THIS is one of the best postcards I've ever seen. And Brooke - EMAIL ME AND SHARE WHO DESIGNED AND PRINTED THEM!!!





Last week I sent stuff for Teacher's Guides to my sister, the schoolteacher, who is a FAB curriculum writer and way fun!

Yesterday, I worked on a panel proposal for YALSA 2010 Conference which will be RIGHT HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE - WAHOO!!!! How lucky is that?!

I've hired a FILM MAKER who is going to make my book trailers. Very excited about book trailers. I love them!
